We didn't get 100, but we're still happy with all the love!

If you've been following me, you know I was trying to collect 100 postcards to help celebrate my classes 100th day of school this week. It was a hectic week and so we didn't get to do much with the cards yet, so they're coming back out next week for a few activities.

Here was my request for cards
and the first 11 cards,

If you sent a card and it's not pictured here, maybe I'll get it this week. Mail is slow in the north.

Here are the remaining 16:

I want to thank all the friends, family and strangers who tried to help my class see how big 100 is by sending us postcards. I enjoyed it!

This one is from one of my best teacher friends and her family. Our kids were born only 4 weeks apart!

This one comes from a teacher in my home province who's lucky enough to find one of the few teaching jobs, even if it is a job share! I'd have killed for one to be able to stay home, but I wouldn't trade my current job, lol. Thanks Ms. Collins!

Math Villian!

I'll admit I stole this from someone online, and if it's yours, I'll give due credit!

edit March 28th: maybe stolen from here.

In my class, a few days a week, our "Villain" steals a few numbers from our 100 chart and my students need to tell me which numbers and tell me how they know it's that number.

The villain is a random picture I printed from Google images, so sorry, I can't provide it to you!

Postcards for 100th day coming in!

I'm very excited for this project!

I think next year though to help avoid the stress of wondering if we'll actually RECEIVE 100 postcards from around the world I'll arrange a postcard exchange. Would you be interested in doing this next year?

So far we have received a total of 11 postcards.

I took a picture of the first five on Thursday.
I COMPLETELY forgot to take pictures of the messages on the back... So I'll leave an empty slot here until I go back in to school.

As We were leaving school on Friday I was handed SIX more lovely postcards. Which since they came home with me, I am able to take pictures of our wonderful messages.

Based on When I was told a postcard was being sent from New York, and this is the first postcard from New York We've received, I'm going to assume this lovely card from "Erie Canal" is from Kinders in New York. Check out her Facebook page!

We ARE cold, it's often -40Celsius here BEFORE the windchill.

Thank you to everyone! I wish I could post pictures of my kids enjoying the cards, but so far I only have pictures where you can see their faces, and I have a strict no faces rule. Keep watching though, they'll be some come the 100th day of school on February 25th!

Chinese New Year 2014:Year of the Horse

We didn't do much in my class this year since it was the same week as report cards and parent teacher interviews, but here's a peek at a few of our projects.

We made Cherry Blossoms. I know, technically they represent Japan more, but I fell in love with this craft.

We made this LONG Chinese dragon chain using red, black and snake paper.

Hanging off the same yarn in our room we also hung these TPT inspired Lanterns and wrote happy new year in Chinese on them. I'm glad you can't hear my pronunciation!
